I have finished my editing of “Child of the Purple Mountain”! I have a proof of the book en route so Kelee can give it a once over, checking my spelling, grammar, etc. I am very happy with it and I think everyone else will be too. It should be available before Christmas!
I am looking for suggestions to help get the word out and boost the numbers on my website and facebook page, any ideas would be appreciated.
After waiting eleven months, Angry Robot sent me an email rejecting “Child of the Purple Mountain”. So I am doing a quick edit, formatting and cover adjustments so it will be ready by December! I am very proud of this book, it is my first one that didn’t start as a short story. It will put to bed many of the questions people had about Shayna and Argyle’s past.
Finally, after waiting about a year, Angry Robot publishing send me a rejection email. Couldn’t be happier. Expect the first issues of “Child of the Purple Mountain” to be rolling off the presses in December.
I know I promised everyone I would have the next book done in November. I did have it done, I really did. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) I found a publisher accepting open submissions. So after much deliberation, I have submitting the first five chapters to the publisher. If they love it (not like it) they might publish it! If they chose not to, I will self publish and it will be available through the normal outlets. I apologize to everyone who has been waiting, but this is a leap I had to take. Whether I am accepted or rejected, it is an important step on the road towards my goal of being a writer.
This is one of the drafts of the new book cover. Beautiful artwork by Angel Cano.
Just a quick note on current events;
My computer has been down, so the editing has been slow. A new program is in the mail, so I should be up and running in no time.
Angel Cano has started on the cover of the new book. I am positive it will be breathtaking. Go here to see his artwork. http://angelcanohn.deviantart.com/gallery/?rnrd=72082
Basin Book Trader has agreed to carry “The Altar of Kolaset” and has asked that I participate in a book signing in September.
Very exciting stuff happening.
This weekend I finally finished the first draft of my second book. The working title is “The Children of the Purple Mountain”. What started out as a few paragraphs in a different book, grew into its own chapter and now its own book of 88k+ words. I have Angel Cano, the illustrator for “The Altar of Kolaset”, standing by to draw the cover. Now to the tedious task of editing, yuck. The book should be ready for publishing long before my November deadline. I’ll keep everyone posted through the website Roberthoughtby.com, and the facebook page the Heroes of Myr (I changed the name because “The Altar of Kolaset” it is now part of a series.)
